Live Music

I really enjoy listening to music. It is a great way to relax and change your mood. I guess I started to get into music when I was about twelve years old or so. I got a CD player for a gift and after that I started to buy CDs. I still have quite a collection, though I don’t listen to most of them anymore. Although I liked music a lot and listened to CDs almost every day, I was never really interested in going to concerts. I guess I have only been to two concerts and two live shows.

One of the concerts I went to was Guns and Roses and Metallica! It was a pretty crazy scene, but it was a great experience. I think I’m normally not so interested in concerts because the musicians are normally so far away and the music doesn’t sound as good as the CD they made in the studio. They can also be very expensive and you have to fight the crowds. For me the negatives of going to a concert outweigh the positives.

However, live music in a smaller venue can be great. Due to the smaller area, the music can sound much better. Also without as many people, you can feel more of a connection with the performers. The prices to get into the live houses are also much cheaper! What is not to like?!
Last month I went to a live performance in a small live house. I had a chance to get some tickets, so I thought it would be a good outing, something interesting and different to do. I’m not sure what I was really expecting. The performers were just students, not professionals and to top it off, they were playing Jazz, which isn’t one of my favorites.

I think the fact that they were not professionals added to my appreciation for what they were doing. Everyone did great! Sure there were a few misses here and there, but overall, everyone gave a great performance! I don’t think I will be going to many more concerts, but if I have the chance, I would love to go see some more live music in a smaller homier place!
