Imaginative English

Most of you have been learning English for a long time: Three years, six years, or a dozen (or more) years. And you have probably answered the usual questions a hundred times, as well. You have talked about your family, hometown and school as many times as well. So what to do?

For a change, try imagining yourself as someone else. Be a foreigner, and try to imagine using English the way they have to. They have a new job, new hobbies and new friends, all of which require different uses of English. Maybe they work in a hotel. If they do, what kind of words do they say everyday to the guests? What questions do they ask and what do people say to them. Imagine this, and you will expand on your English ability as you use it in newer ways.

And another way to do something similar to this is to get yourself a new interest in English. Find a website or book about a new hobby in English, and start to learn the English you need to talk about that topic. Itmight be a bit difficult, as most hobbies and such have special vocabulary that might be different from the way the words are usually used. Or they might use words that most people never use. This is good to broaden your English experience.

So imagination is a good way to expand your English use.
