I AM! I love to connect with my siblings, relatives and friends who are living away from me. Oh, but then, even with friends who are living in the same city. It’s great to interact online, learn about their latest adventures, view photos(old & new) of places they’ve explored, and people they’ve met. I’m also into searching for long lost friends, (found some!) sharing music videos, pictures, news, etc. Social networking’s soaring popularity is a manifestation of people’s enthusiasm not only for the latest technology the world can offer but also for news of their next of kin and friends. It is also an excellent avenue to interact with people who share the same interest and insights. And with the advent of modern technology, communication is now conveniently and amazingly possible at the stroke of fingers. Moreover, membership registration of social networking websites is free! Truth be told though, I had my reservations and anxieties before I registered at Facebook. The lack of anonymity is a cause of concern. Added by the fact that the moment I uploaded my photos, I become more exposed to the general public. One of the dangers of online interactions is the users’ susceptibility to unscrupulous people who are always vigilant and ready to victimize anyone who would be carried away by strangers’ fleeting moments of sweet talks. Caution!!! Deceit is rampant! Scammers are abundant! DO NOT fall prey to fraudsters that are rife online! Indeed, there are many disadvantages of social networking but in my own personal experience, the advantages outweighed the disadvantages. As a member of a social networking site, one must be aware of the pitfalls and be wary when interacting with total strangers. Social networking is meant to be fun and enjoyable. It is meant for borderless communication and social interaction where race, gender, class, religion, are not questioned but issues to be explored, discussed and learnt from. I don’t often think about dreams. Probably because when I wake up, I normally don’t remember if I even had a dream. However, lots of people dream, and they dream about very different things. Some people dream of the future, the past, and their hopes or just have crazy dreams! There have been several famous people who have had dreams or visions of the future. Often they don’t come true, but sometimes they do or actual events are very close to what was dreamed. I guess Nostradamus one of the most famous in regards to predicting the future. Sometimes I get a strong feeling of dejavu when I am in a place or situation for the first time. Did I have some dream about it that I can’t remember, but the images are still stored somewhere in my brain? Perhaps dreaming of the past is the most common. Many people relive past experiences in their dreams. Unfortunately, many of these dreams are nightmares. It is obvious that our conscious life affects our dreams, but we just don’t really know how to control it. I have tried to control my dreams before by thinking about something before going to sleep, but it has never worked. Everybody like to have a fantasy dream where we get to do everything we want and more! Maybe it is being a princess or meeting famous people or just a nice quiet time alone fishing. These dreams can be fun but sometimes when you wake up from them you might feel a let down. Back in the real world, you are no longer a princess and have to catch the train to work in one hour! I hear the most about crazy dreams as my mother and wife often have them. My mother would sometimes tell me about her dreams. One involved pink elephants, surfing and Santa Claus! I don’t know if these crazy dreams mean anything, but Sigmund Freud might have some idea.
